Football Recap: Bruton Panthers vs. New Kent Trojans

Bruton played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 54-6 loss at the hands of the New Kent Trojans. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-6.

James Carlyle-Greene threw for 112 yards and one TD. Abraham Owens was his top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Rumante Todd rushed for 59 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Bruton and nudges their season record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-2 Warhill (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69% over those games). As for New Kent, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Bruton is set to take on their familiar foe Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. Meanwhile, New Kent will face off against rival Warhill at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Trojans 15, the Lions 14.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
