After flying high against San Antonio Memorial last Tuesday, Gonzales came back down to earth. The Apaches took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cuero Gobblers on Friday. Even though they lost, the Apaches' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Sarah Padilla stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Blakely Mercer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

With the defeat, Gonzales broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-10. As for Cuero, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5-1 record this season.

Gonzales wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-2 loss against La Vernia on the 15th. Cuero does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
