Baseball Game Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. South Johnston Trojans

The Hunt Warriors will face off against the South Johnston Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hunt will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Hunt's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over East Wake.

Will Doll was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattox McKeel, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, South Johnston made easy work of Southern Wayne on Friday and carried off an 8-0 victory. Considering the Trojans have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hunt pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for South Johnston, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Hunt might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from South Johnston in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Hunt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
