Baseball Recap: Churchill County Triumphs

While Churchill County's win against North Valleys wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Churchill County Greenwave came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Valleys Panthers on Saturday, sneaking past 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Greenwave in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Anthony Juarez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 6.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Churchill County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Kelsey, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Trevor Hyde also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win got Churchill County back to even at 3-3-1. As for North Valleys, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: North Valleys beat Churchill County by a score of 9-7 later that day.
