Softball Recap: Coronado Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Coronado rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bishop Gorman Gaels by a score of 6-3. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 9-6 win back in April.

Aubrie Sisler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Bailey Goldberg was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Summer Gilliam, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Bishop Gorman, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17-2.

Coming up, Coronado is taking a road trip to square off against Shadow Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. Bishop Gorman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
