Evant scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kopperl Eagles. The Elks have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Evant still got an impressive performance from Edgar Dominguez, who rushed for 152 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.

Evant's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Kopperl, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Evant and Kopperl will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Elks see the field they'll take on Buckholts at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Kopperl, their break will end when they face Cranfills Gap at 7:30 p.m. on October 3.
