Baseball Recap: Freeport Takes a Loss

Freeport extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They lost 20-10 to the York Wildcats. Even if the Falcons couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Ben Bolduc made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Andrew Thomas also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for York, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

On York's side, Robbie Hanscom was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. Hanscom has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bradley Carr, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5.

Freeport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for York, they will head out to square off against Greely at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
