Baseball Game Preview: Kickapoo Chiefs vs. Neosho Wildcats

The Kickapoo Chiefs are taking a road trip to take on the Neosho Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Kickapoo came up short against Tuttle and fell 10-5.

Meanwhile, Neosho had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They put the hurt on the Mountaineers with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Brodie Arthur tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Neosho let Hudson Williams and Brody Crane run wild. Williams went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI, while Crane went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Williams a new career-high. Kanten Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Neosho was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Neosho pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kickapoo, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Kickapoo couldn't quite get it done against Neosho in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
