Basketball Recap: Scotland Fighting Scots vs. Purnell Swett Rams
The Scotland Fighting Scots came into Wednesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Purnell Swett 56-38 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Scotland also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Scotland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shyland Harrell, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jonathan Graham was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Purnell Swett saw an underclassman step up: Aidan Clewis scored five points.
Scotland's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12. As for Purnell Swett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.
Scotland will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union Pines is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Purnell Swett will take on the Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
