Basketball Game Preview: Juarez Eagles vs. Butler Lynx

After both having extra time off, the Juarez Eagles and the Butler Lynx will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Juarez is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Juarez's tournament run continued when they took on Hancock last Saturday. Juarez fell 27-20 to Hancock. The matchup marked Juarez's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 63-34 stomp they got against Lane Tech. The Lynx have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Butler's win came from a few key players Juarez will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Xyanna Walton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season. Cyra Conwell was another key player, putting up 18 points and five rebounds.

Butler has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Juarez, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
