Softball Recap: St. Anthony's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Anthony entered their tilt with Orchard Park on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Quakers.

Melissa Gordon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia Lee was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sarah Bielski was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

St. Anthony's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orchard Park only managed nine hits.

St. Anthony's record is now 14-2. As for Orchard Park, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.

St. Anthony's and Orchard Park should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Friars (ranked sixth) will meet Kellenberg Memorial (ranked 64th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Orchard Park will square off against Lancaster at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (38 vs. 126).
