Softball Game Preview: Bridges Prep Buccaneers vs. Hampton County Hurricanes

The Bridges Prep Buccaneers will square off against the Hampton County Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridges Prep has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bridges Prep is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Lowcountry Leadership on Wednesday. They came up short against the NaviGators, falling 13-2. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the NaviGators recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Bridges Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillie Prater, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Prater has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Trista Halker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Hampton County made easy work of Whale Branch on Friday and carried off a 16-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

The win got Hampton County back to even at 3-3. As for Bridges Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Bridges Prep took their victory against Hampton County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 23-11 score. Will the Buccaneers repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
