Baseball Game Preview: Girard Indians vs. Mineral Ridge Rams

The Girard Indians will take on the Mineral Ridge Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineral Ridge took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Girard, who comes in off a win.

If Girard beats Mineral Ridge with four runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Indians never let McKinley get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Red Dragons: they've now won eight in a row.

Not much got past Kaiden Clare, who gave up just four hits to keep McKinley off the board. Clare also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Girard is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ja'Den Royal, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mineral Ridge fell victim to Ursuline and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Irish. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Girard's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Mineral Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
