Basketball Recap: Furlow Charter School Comes Up Short

Furlow Charter School lost against Byne Christian back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falcons fell 70-65 to the Saints. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Saints 28-24 in the first quarter.

Loss or not, Furlow Charter School got some senior leadership from Rashad Dowdell and Calvin Davis. Dowdell shot 47% from the field to rack up 28 points, while Davis dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Dowdell is now averaging an impressive 16.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Logan Luten, who posted four points and eight boards.

Byne Christian found their leader in sophomore Owen McFarlin, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McFarlin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grantham Jenkins, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 13 points and seven boards.

Furlow Charter School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Byne Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Furlow Charter School has already played their next game, a 63-60 loss against Webster County on the 6th. Hopefully Byne Christian paid attention to the Falcons' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Falcons at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
