Robertson picks up fourth straight win on the road

Recap: Robertson Cardinals vs. Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes

The Robertson Cardinals entered their tilt with the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Robertson skirted past Pojoaque Valley 67-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Jesse James Gonzales was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Gonzales, who scored ten points.

Robertson's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Pojoaque Valley, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Robertson and Portales will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Portales is ranked 26th, while Robertson is ranked 15th). Pojoaque Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lovington at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. One thing working in Lovington's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
