Baseball Recap: Portage Beats Michigan City for Their Third Straight Win

Portage put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Michigan City Wolves 18-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 last Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Pirowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Pirowski is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Kodie Young was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Pirowski wasn't the only one making solid contact: Portage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Portage's record now sits at 3-0. As for Michigan City, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portage will square off against South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Michigan City, they will face off against Hammond Morton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
