Softball Recap: El Diamante Wins Going Away Against Porterville

El Diamante made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Porterville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Miners put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-3 victory on Thursday. Considering the Miners have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Maya Moore tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Mikayla Moreno was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Taelyn Ochoa was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

El Diamante hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

El Diamante's record is now 5-7-1. As for Porterville, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Coming up, El Diamante will be taking part in a tournament against Westminster at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Miners will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Porterville, they will take on Tulare Western in a tournament on Saturday.
