Baseball Game Preview: Harrison Panthers vs. Palmer Terrors

For the second straight game, Harrison will face off against Palmer. The Panthers will welcome the Terrors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Harrison has lost three straight at home , while Palmer has lost 13 on the road (dating back to last season).

Harrison headed into their last matchup having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Palmer let them put that streak behind them. The Panthers never let the Terrors get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jonathan Van Der Merwede and Richard Galarza were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Van Der Merwede tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Galarza struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Van Der Merwede went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Galarza went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That double was Van Der Merwede's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Hernandez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Harrison: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Aiden Archuleta was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Harrison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Harrison's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Palmer, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
