Softball Recap: Kettle Run Takes a Loss

Kettle Run lost against Fauquier last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Emerson Golden was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Golden wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Risley Hoskins, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Kettle Run's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Fauquier, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-1.

Coincidentally, Kettle Run and Fauquier will both be playing Brentsville District the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Falcons will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
