Softball Recap: Lambert Victorious + How To Watch

After losing to Pope the last time they met, Lambert decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Longhorns walked away with a 7-2 win over the Greyhounds on Saturday. With that victory, the Longhorns brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Faith Doolen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Cantarutti, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Payton Yi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lambert kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lambert now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pope, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coincidentally, Lambert and Pope will both be playing Milton the next time they take the field. The Longhorns will head out to face the Eagles at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, while the Greyhounds will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
