After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mapleton, Western Reserve was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers, sneaking past 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Roughriders in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Layken Barnhart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Western Reserve's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Eliza Stewart, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Stewart has posted since back in April.

Western Reserve picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-13. As for St. Mary Central Catholic, they are on a 20-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-20.

Western Reserve didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-0 defeat against Monroeville on the 9th. As for St. Mary Central Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-8 loss against Hopewell-Loudon on the 9th.
