Football Recap: Eagle Academy II Eagle vs. Imhotep Charter Panthers
Eagle Academy II kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 43-19 to the Imhotep Charter Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Eagle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 172nd in New York, while the Panthers are ranked 12th in Pennsylvania).
A big part of Imhotep Charter's victory came down to the chemistry between Joey McLeish and his top target Brian Culmer. McLeish threw for 416 yards and four touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes while Culmer picked up 188 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Culmer a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two). Kareem Haqq also helped out as he racked up 104 receiving yards.
Imhotep Charter's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Academy II will head out to square off against Fordham Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Imhotep Charter, they will venture away from home to take on DeMatha at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
