Softball Recap: Tates Creek Triumphs

Tates Creek's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs with a sharp 11-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Alexis Sempsrott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Madison Bowman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Bazzell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Tates Creek's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tates Creek will head out to challenge Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they are taking a road trip to square off against West Jessamine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
