Lake Highland Prep had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.9 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They strolled past the Auburndale Bloodhounds with points to spare, taking the game 44-28. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Bloodhounds are ranked 124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Highland Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Madueme, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. Madueme is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played. Oliver Berman also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Lake Highland Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Auburndale only racked up seven assists.

Auburndale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaden Lindsay, who posted nine points.

Lake Highland Prep is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Auburndale, they moved to 19-6 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lake Highland Prep will face off against McKeel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in McKeel Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Auburndale, they will square off against Kathleen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Auburndale is facing Kathleen at the right time seeing as Kathleen is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
