Preview: Maple Heights Mustangs vs. Lorain Titans
Maple Heights is 0-10 against the Titans since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Maple Heights Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lorain Titans at 12:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Maple Heights is ranked 490th, while the Titans are ranked 472nd).
After a string of four wins, Maple Heights' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were dealt a 56-10 loss at the hands of Warrensville Heights.
Meanwhile, Lorain came into Monday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Garfield Heights with a sharp 67-44 victory on Monday.
Lorain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jelynn Carrington, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Carrington pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ca'milynne Shiellds was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Maple Heights' loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Lorain, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Maple Heights might still be hurting after the 50-28 loss they got from the Titans in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Maple Heights was down 35-7.
