The Alleman Pioneers will venture away from home to challenge the Farmington Farmers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alleman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Alleman took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Moline, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Alleman sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Moline on Monday. Jackson Smith was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kelly Honert, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Farmington waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Chargers. The result was nothing new for the Farmers, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Farmington also got a great performance from Brody Evans as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Evans a new career-low in hits (zero).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Marvel, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brody Wilcoxen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Farmington pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Alleman, their record now sits at 7-2.
