Softball Recap: South Pittsburg's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Pittsburg waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Whitwell Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in April.

Kaylee Kilgore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 22 batters over 12 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macy Mashburn, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs and one double. Adelyn McLemore also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

South Pittsburg now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Whitwell, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

As of now, neither South Pittsburg nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
