Football Recap: East Valley Starts Season with Loss at Home

East Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 42-6 loss at the hands of the Milken Wildcats on Thursday. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.

Despite the defeat, East Valley had strong showings from David Hernandez Bautista, who rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and Ramon Palafox, who rushed for 40 yards.

A big part of Milken's win came down to the chemistry between Cooper Wasser and his top target Theo Fleischman. Wasser threw for 248 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes while Fleischman picked up 199 receiving yards and three scores. Fleischman also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Looking ahead, East Valley will take on Public Safety Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Milken, they will square off against Valley Oaks CES at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
