Softball Game Preview: Chattanooga Central Pounders vs. Grace Baptist Academy Golden Eagles

Chattanooga Central is a perfect 8-0 against Grace Baptist Academy since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Chattanooga Central will face off against Grace Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Chattanooga Central's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Grace Baptist Academy has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Thursday, Chattanooga Central got the win against East Ridge by a conclusive 18-1. The Pounders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Marisa Salinas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since March 4th. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kennedi Sabb was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since March 4th. Another player making a difference was Navaeh Frank, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Chattanooga Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive games.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Grace Baptist Academy and Boyd-Buchanan, and Boyd-Buchanan kept the tradition alive. Grace Baptist Academy lost 14-2 to Boyd-Buchanan on Thursday.

Grace Baptist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Chattanooga Central, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Chattanooga Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Grace Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 13-9. Will Chattanooga Central repeat their success, or does Grace Baptist Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
