Basketball Recap: Alameda Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

On Wednesday, the Alameda Pirates were able to grind out a solid victory over the Mitchell Marauders, taking the game 35-23.

Claire To was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 11 steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Minerva Santos was another key player, putting up two points in addition to ten boards and three blocks.

Alameda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Alameda is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Mitchell dropped their record down to 3-19 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

Coming up, Alameda will take on Arvada at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mitchell, they will square off against Walsenburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
