Basketball Recap: Evan Bailey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Williamstown over Vergennes

If Williamstown was riding high fresh off their 80-52 takedown of Peoples Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Williamstown Blue Devils received a blow on Friday as they fell 79-62 to the Vergennes Commodores. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Commodores apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Bailey, who went 8 of 13 en route to 23 points along with six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Mascitti, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points in addition to four blocks and three steals.

Williamstown now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Vergennes, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Williamstown has already played their next game, a 70-51 win against Stowe on the 30th. As for Vergennes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-39 victory against Twinfield on the 30th.
