Cleburne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 38-28 to the Centennial Spartans. One positive for the Yellowjackets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Cleburne still got an impressive performance from Hayden Leifeste, who rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Leifeste's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Malachi Cunningham was another key player, picking up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cleburne's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Cordae Simmons and Cunningham.
Cleburne's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Centennial, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
