Football Game Preview: Spruce Creek Hawks vs. Apopka Blue Darters

The Spruce Creek Hawks will face off against the Apopka Blue Darters at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Spruce Creek comes in on 18 and Apopka on ten.

Spruce Creek is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They pulled ahead with a 13-12 photo finish over Timber Creek.

Meanwhile, Apopka got themselves on the board against Mandarin on Monday, but Mandarin never followed suit. They blew past the Mustangs, posting a 27-0 victory. The Blue Darters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

Apopka pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.9 points on average over those games. As for Spruce Creek, their win bumped their record up to 18-0.

Spruce Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Apopka in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, but they still walked away with a 12-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
