Softball Game Preview: Palm Beach Gardens Gators vs. West Boca Raton Bulls

The Palm Beach Gardens Gators will head out to square off against the West Boca Raton Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Palm Beach Gardens' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so West Boca Raton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Palm Beach Gardens is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Wellington just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Gators haven't been shut out since back in March.

West Boca Raton never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Boca Raton on Monday. They blew past the Bobcats 12-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulls' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Megan Brockmann made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Brockmann was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Luft was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Araya Brunner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double.

West Boca Raton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Palm Beach Gardens' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-6. As for West Boca Raton, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.

Palm Beach Gardens took their victory against West Boca Raton in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
