Soccer Recap: Princeton Takes a Loss

Princeton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Orion/Sherrard United. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Orion/Sherrard this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 two weeks ago.

Princeton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15-1. As for Orion/Sherrard, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5-2 record this season.

Princeton and Orion/Sherrard could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Tigers will challenge LaSalle-Peru at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (441 vs. 126). Meanwhile, Orion/Sherrard (ranked 367th) will meet Mendota (ranked 77th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
