Softball Recap: Providence Victorious

Providence proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 14) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Butler Bulldogs, sneaking past 13-12. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Providence let Camryn O'Connor and Olivia Wakem run wild. O'Connor fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4, while Wakem went 2-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Wakem a new career-high. Pheonix Scott was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Providence's record now sits at 3-0. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence will take on Hopewell at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Butler, they will venture away from home to take on Ardrey Kell at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
