Soccer Game Preview: Lufkin vs. Mt. Pleasant

Lufkin is 1-8 against Mt. Pleasant since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Mt. Pleasant took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lufkin, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lufkin faced off against Texas on Friday. The Panthers skirted past the Tigers 2-1. The game was the first time Lufkin have beaten Texas on their pitch since January 17, 2020.

Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant didn't have quite enough to beat Jacksonville on Friday and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, Mt. Pleasant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Jacksonville are ranked 26th).

Lufkin's win ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Mt. Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6-2.
