Softball Recap: 16 Straight Home Wins for Reading Memorial

While Reading Memorial's win against Lexington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Minutemen on Thursday. Eight seems to be a good number for the Rockets as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Reading Memorial's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Lexington, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reading Memorial will take on Westford Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grey Ghosts have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Lexington, they are taking a road trip to take on Needham at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
