Basketball Recap: James Jasper Key Part of a Team Effort in Brahmans Win

Okeechobee won the last time they faced John Carroll Catholic and things went their way on Friday too. The Okeechobee Brahmans blew past the John Carroll Catholic Rams 61-37. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Brahmans just coasted through the last quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Okeechobee to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Jasper, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Jasper a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Chaynaya'Ah Phillips, who went 5 for 6 en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why John Carroll Catholic lost, don't look at Brandon James. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points. Joaquin Ruiz was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Okeechobee pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for John Carroll Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.
