Football Recap: Benjamin Takes a Loss

Benjamin and King's Academy pushed the score to 48-14 the last time they played King's Academy, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Buccaneers and the Lions were almost perfectly matched up, but the Buccaneers suffered a 13-12 loss. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

King's Academy found their leader in freshman Fletcher Hodges, who rushed for 154 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. Hodges really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run.

Benjamin's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for King's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Benjamin will square off against John Carroll Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' defense has only allowed 14.3 points per game this season, so the Buccaneers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for King's Academy, they will challenge Glades Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' defense better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 32.8 points per game this season.
