Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Jackson

Jackson extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping them up to 10-4. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Circleville Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Ironman/Ironladies, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Serenity Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Maddie Wright and Izzy Swisher did most of the damage at the plate: Wright fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Swisher went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two home runs gave Wright a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Barnett, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Jackson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Circleville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-5. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Circleville's side, Makaylee Holbrook made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coincidentally, Jackson and Circleville will both be playing Liberty Union the next time they take the field. The Tigers will head out to face the Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Ironman/Ironladies will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
