Basketball Game Preview: Broadmoor Buccaneers vs. Thrive Academy Bulldogs

The Broadmoor Buccaneers will take on the Thrive Academy Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Broadmoor has three straight wins, Thrive Academy has 21 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Broadmoor strolled past Belaire with points to spare, taking the game 57-42. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Bengals are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eric Jordan was the offensive standout of the contest as he posted 19 points and five boards. The game was his third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Billy, who earned eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Broadmoor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-23, which was the final score in Thrive Academy's tilt against Dutchtown on Wednesday.

Thrive Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Broadmoor, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.

Everything came up roses for Broadmoor against Thrive Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-38 win. Will Broadmoor repeat their success, or does Thrive Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
