Softball Game Preview: Glencoe Crimson Tide vs. Lebanon Warriors

The Glencoe Crimson Tide will head out to challenge the Lebanon Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Glencoe's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Lebanon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Glencoe needed a bit of extra time to put away Oregon City. They won by a run and slipped past the Pioneers 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crimson Tide.

Lexi Brester spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kalli Farrimond was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makena Petrick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Lebanon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Cascade, falling 12-2.

Lebanon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mahala Pyle, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Pyle hit this season.

Glencoe's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Lebanon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Glencoe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for Lebanon, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Glencoe's hitters?

Glencoe suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Lebanon in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Crimson Tide avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
