Softball Recap: Castle Knights vs. Jasper Wildcats

If Castle was feeling good fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Evansville Reitz on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights came up short against the Jasper Wildcats on Saturday, falling 10-4. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Maddie Rose was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Emma Bruggenschmidt was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Castle has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Jasper, their record is now 11-5-1.
