Baseball Game Preview: Millikan Rams vs. Santa Fe Chiefs

The Millikan Rams will take on the Santa Fe Chiefs in a tournament on Friday. Neither Millikan nor Santa Fe posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Millikan is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Citrus Valley.

Daunte Bell tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Millikan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Pack, who went a perfect2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 5-0 to Villa Park on Tuesday.

James Rubio was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he also gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

Everything went Millikan's way against Santa Fe in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Millikan made off with a 17-1 win. Does Millikan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Fe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
