Soccer Game Preview: Stonewall Jackson vs. Luray

The Stonewall Jackson Generals will venture away from home to take on the Luray Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stonewall Jackson has three straight wins, Luray has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Stonewall Jackson barely beat Strasburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Generals' defense stepped up to hand the Rams a 3-0 shutout on Thursday. Fans of Stonewall Jackson have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 3+ goals.

Meanwhile, Luray fell victim to East Rockingham and their airtight defense last Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 4-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Luray haven't been shut out since back in December of 2024.

Stonewall Jackson pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Luray, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went Stonewall Jackson's way against Luray in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Stonewall Jackson made off with a 7-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
