Basketball Recap: Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs vs. Pleasanton Bulldogs
The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs were handed a two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Pleasanton Bulldogs on Monday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 61-39 victory. Given Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller found their leader in underclassman Chance Daake, who scored 20 points along with three blocks. It was the first time this season that Daake scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Colt Schroeder, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Pleasanton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Pleasanton, they will head out on the road to take on the Wolves at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
