League recap: Pulaski rises, Southwest falls in league standings

Fox River Classic league recap: 5/7/12

Pulaski made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from eighth to fifth place in the league thanks to a 1-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Southwest fell hardest in the standings, dropping from sixth all the way to eighth place after going 0-2 in the past week. Bay Port (11-3, 10-1) is now in first place.

De Pere (13-3, 11-2) is riding a league-best 9-game winning streak. Two of those wins came in the past week, includinga 6-5 victory over Escanaba and a 4-3 win over Preble.

The Red Raiders's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only five hits and four walks, both of which led the league. Pulaski has given up a mere 89 hits on the year in addition to compiling 98 strikeouts. Andrew Thompson is the leader in that category with 25 Ks on the season.

Luke Vanlanen garnered five hits in five at bats during Pulaski's 11-1 victory over South on May 1, 2012. He also drove in four runners and scored three runs.
