            The Chaparral Firebirds will take on the Red Mountain Mountain Lions in a tournament  on Friday. The last four games Chaparral has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Chaparral will bounce into Friday's   game after  beating Hamilton, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Chaparral came out on top against Hamilton on Thursday by a score of  4-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

 Truman Parker looked comfortable as he  pitched 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. What's more,  he posted two  strikeouts, the most he's  had since back in April of 2024.
 At the plate,  Gavin Mesa was  incredible,  firing off two  home runs and three  runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave  him a new career-high in  home runs.
Meanwhile, Red Mountain is ranked highly in their home state and   on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Faith Lutheran. Red Mountain fell just short of Faith Lutheran by a score of  9-7. The Mountain Lions' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
  Carter Macanas was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 3-for-4 with four  RBI and one  double.  Wyatt Bundy was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-4.
 Chaparral has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record  this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. Red Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
 Chaparral skirted past Red Mountain  4-2 when the teams last played  back in February of 2023. Will Chaparral repeat their success,  or does  Red Mountain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
