Softball Game Preview: Oldham County Colonels vs. Madison Cubs

The Oldham County Colonels will challenge the Madison Cubs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Oldham County nor Madison posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Oldham County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Greenwood, who was ranked third at the time (Oldham County was ranked eighth). The Colonels fell 6-1 to the Gators on Monday. The game marked the Colonels' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Jozie Lashley put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Lori Edgar was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Madison fell victim to Floyd Central and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Highlanders, falling 10-0. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Highlanders recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Oldham County, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-6.
